📚 Core Knowledge, Core Strength

At MBLI, we use the Core Knowledge Sequence, a coherent, grade-by-grade curriculum designed to build students' knowledge deliberately and meaningfully over time. This approach recognizes that strong learning depends on more than isolated skills; it grows from a solid foundation of shared knowledge that students can carry with them from one year to the next. By sequencing content thoughtfully across grade levels, the Core Knowledge Sequence helps students make connections, deepen understanding, strengthen vocabulary, and improve comprehension across the curriculum.

This matters because students learn best when new ideas are anchored in what they already know. The Core Knowledge Sequence supports long-term academic growth by providing students with a rich, content-based education that fosters critical thinking, cultural literacy, and confident communication. At MBLI, it helps ensure that students are not only learning information but also developing the intellectual foundation needed to succeed in school and beyond.

At MBLI, we’ve designed a structured yet flexible school day that supports academic growth, personal development, and real-world readiness. Our model is built around six core components that work together to provide a well-rounded education:

📘 The Core

These courses form the foundation of every student’s academic experience and include English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science, and Social Studies. Grounded in the Core Knowledge Sequence, our core curriculum intentionally builds knowledge across grade levels and subject areas. As students progress, they strengthen their critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills, preparing them for success in high school, college, and future careers. Students also have the opportunity to take advanced math courses, while instruction in other core subjects is differentiated as appropriate to meet students where they are and support continued academic growth.

💼 The M-Core Advantage

At MBLI, M-Core is our signature program and a defining part of the student experience. More than a single class, M-Core is the umbrella for our business education and real-world readiness approach, designed to help students build the knowledge, habits, and confidence they need for success in school and beyond. Through M-Core, students engage in learning that goes beyond traditional academics to explore financial literacy, entrepreneurship, marketing, management, leadership, teamwork, digital literacy, executive functioning, career exploration, and personal responsibility. These skills are not taught in isolation. Instead, they are developed through meaningful, real-world experiences such as hands-on projects, collaborative problem-solving, pitch opportunities, and mentorship that help students connect what they are learning to the world around them.

M-Core is where future readiness begins at MBLI. It gives students a strong foundation in both business and life skills, helping them grow as thinkers, leaders, and emerging innovators prepared for the opportunities ahead.

🎨 The Encore Experience

Encore classes support creativity, wellness, and global understanding. Students participate in Art, Music, Physical Education, Health, and World Languages, gaining exposure to new disciplines and opportunities to express themselves, stay active, and explore cultures beyond their own.

🧠 The Flex Experience

Flex Block is a dedicated part of the school day designed to meet students where they are academically, socially, and personally. During this time, students receive targeted support and enrichment tailored to their needs, whether that means catching up, delving deeper into a subject, strengthening specific skills, or participating in hands-on learning opportunities. Flex Block may include small-group instruction, individual support, enrichment activities, and other focused experiences that help students grow with confidence.

Flex Block also includes advisory, giving students regular time for relationship-building, personal reflection, goal-setting, and leadership development. With the support of a dedicated staff advisor, students strengthen executive functioning skills, engage in structured social-emotional learning, and build a sense of connection and belonging within the school community. Together, these experiences make Flex Block an important space for both academic support and whole-child development.

🌍 Learning Through Service

At MBLI, we believe students learn best by making meaningful connections to the world around them. Through monthly school-wide service projects, students apply classroom learning to real community needs—building empathy, responsibility, and leadership. Service Learning is an important part of our mission to develop thoughtful, civically engaged young leaders.
