Accepting Applications for Grade 7 (2025-2026)
MBLI is currently accepting applications for students entering Grade 7 for the 2025-2026 school year.
🚫 Grade 6 Applications Closed
Due to a high volume of applications and an extensive waitlist, we are no longer accepting applications for Grade 6. If you previously applied, your application remains on the waitlist, and you will be contacted if a seat becomes available.
What to Expect After Submitting Your Application

📩 Notifications will be sent via Lotterease regarding your student’s placement:
Accepted applicants will receive instructions to confirm and accept their seats.
Waitlisted applicants will be informed of their position on the waitlist and contacted if space becomes available.
📌 Once a seat is accepted, families will receive detailed steps to complete enrollment, including required documentation and key deadlines.

When and Where We Plan to Start
MBLI will be located at 20261 Goldenrod Lane in Germantown, Maryland, and will open its doors in the fall of 2025, starting with middle school grades 6 and 7, and expanding each year through high school grade 12. We are committed to fostering a diverse and supportive environment for all students, including those who are at-risk, English Language Learners, and individuals with varying abilities.
Why We Are Doing This
In 2013/14, we identified a critical gap in how students—particularly those from urban backgrounds—understood the full spectrum of career possibilities available to them. Although STEM education has made great strides, empowering many students to pursue paths in science and technology, there remains a significant number of students who lack access to clear pathways toward other essential careers. This gap left many young people feeling disconnected from their education, unaware of the multitude of opportunities in fields like business, leadership, and entrepreneurship.
The creation of the MECCA Business Learning Institute (MBLI) is a direct response to this need. It is the product of years of dedication by the MBEF College & Career Academies (MECCA), a group that has tirelessly worked with youth and young adults outside of school hours. Since its inception, MECCA has been committed to empowering young people—running workshops, leadership programs, and career readiness initiatives to help students thrive. However, the 2013/14 discovery showed that the existing efforts were not enough to bridge the widening gap.
This realization inspired MECCA to want to do more, to reach students during the regular school day with a comprehensive approach that could make a bigger impact. The MECCA Business Learning Institute was born from the belief that a specialized, business-focused education could open up new pathways for students who may not see themselves represented in traditional education models.
At MBLI, we combine a rigorous academic curriculum with practical, hands-on business learning, giving students the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed not only in school but also in the workforce and in life. We want every student—whether they aspire to become an entrepreneur, a leader, or simply want to explore their potential—to have the support and opportunities they need to excel.
Our mission is clear: to help students succeed in school—and beyond—by providing an education that not only imparts knowledge but also inspires curiosity, builds character, and opens doors to a future full of possibilities.
